Rooster (I am vision impaired)
Please contact Plenty of Pit Bulls Gainsville, FL

Rooster is a super goofy sweet dog! Loves people and gets along great with other dogs. Rooster suffers from macular/retinal degeneration, a retinal eye disease that limits his vision. Rooster is not phased by his visual limitation, super confident for a guy with impaired vision (we think he can see just a bit!) Rooster would benefit from a quiet home environment and fenced in area free of obstacles. We recommend a home with only adults or adult children as little ones excite him a bit too much! He is a little 45 pound cannon ball of energy! Rooster has had basic schooling and is very responsive and loyal to his human(s). E mail for more information.

Helen (I am Blind/Deaf)
Please contact Saved Me Philadelphia, PA

Are you or someone you know looking to adopt a dog who will be a best friend? One where the bond will be so strong, and every day she’ll make you smile at how resilient she is despite being unable to see or hear? Then Helen may be perfect. She’s a 1 year old pup from South Carolina who was rescued by Saved Me.

Despite clearly not having had the best life so far, that’s all changed and she’s now in Philadelphia, looking for a home. While she currently weighs about 40lbs, she came very thin so is in the process of gaining some weight! She is looking for a home with someone who has a fenced in yard (she’s still working on leash walking) and who is ready and willing to open their heart and home to a dog like her.

Gatsby (I am vision impaired)
Please contact Almost Home Rescue or by email Houston, TX

Little Gatsby is very sweet & cuddly. He would do best as an only pet. He is energetic but can also just chill next to you on the couch. Although he is vision-impaired, he gets around just fine. He is heartworm negative, neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations.

Gatsby is in a foster home with Almost Home Pet Rescue in Houston with other dogs and school aged children. We are looking for a home where Gatsby would be the only pet.

Please consider making this handsome boy a member of your family. As we are a foster based rescue, we do require a completed application to be submitted before we arrange a meet. This can be found on our website here.
If you are interested in Gatsby, please email: OR the link to inquire to our rescue about Gatsby can be found on our website here.

Dobbie (I am nearly blind)
Please contact Tarheel Weimaraner Rescue Inc.

Dobbie is still looking for his forever home!!
He has finished his heartworm treatment and is ready for his new home. 💕🐾
Three year old neutered male, finishing up heart worm treatment soon, and then will be ready for his forever home.
Dobbie is a gentle giant who is nearly blind, although you wouldn’t realize he is vision impaired by the way he runs around the garden and enjoys playing hide and seek! While Weimaraners are known for being highly energetic and requiring lots of exercise, Dobbie is more sedate in character. He will happily run beside you on a leash as you jog, or will run around the yard playing games, but overall he doesn’t require the level of exercise typicaly of the breed. He is great around people, putting up with the adoration from our 5 and 7 year old kids.. He is crate trained and house broken, and fine to travel, spend time alone in the yard, or be walked on a leash. In general he ignores other dogs and wildlife and is very easy going. He is always happy to see people! If you would like to know more about Dobbie, contact us at

Chrissy (I am blind)
Please contact Wagging Tails Dog Rescue NY

Meet Chrissy, everyone! She is a super sweet, approximately 9 year old, 14 pound terrier mix who was surrendered by her owner to the NYC kill shelter. Chrissy unfortunately lost her sight about a week later and while initially she was very scared and confused, she has settled down and with the encouragement and support of her foster parents, is adjusting to life without her vision. She LOVES going for brisk walks but also enjoys quiet snuggling at home. Chrissy is a total foodie and just loves enjoys a frozen peanut butter stuffed kong, her snuffle mat and other treat-stuffed toys. Chrissy is quiet and friendly with other dogs but gets nervous if another dog barks or acts up so she would need a home with either another quiet pup or to be a solo pup. She needs to have quiet and calm humans as well. Chrissy requires daily eye drops so potential adopters need to be committed to a consistent schedule to keep her eyes comfortable. They also need to be committed to continuing to work with her to adjust to her vision loss. She is a sweet and happy girl looking for her forever home and a family to help her live her best life. If you or someone you know may be interested in adopting Chrissy, please visit the Wagging Tails Dog Rescue NY website at

Harley (I am blind)
Please contact Greta’s Animal Ark Animal Rescue New Orleans, LA or
Harley is a 10 year old Poodle/Pom mix looking for a home! NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA

Harley weighs about 10 lbs and had her eye removed due to a severe infection. She’s all healed up now and ready to find her forever home. Harley has a cataract in her remaining eye so her eyesight isn’t great but she gets around very well! She is very friendly and sweet and likes to take naps and cuddle. She is dog and cat friendly and would prefer a calmer home without young kids. She would make a great dog for someone looking for a calm lapdog or a companion for another calm senior dog.

When we first got her, she was in rough shape. She was found as a stray in a drainage ditch with an infected eye, infected ears, and an abscess on her cheek from having such horribly rotten teeth. She is now fully healed up 🙂 She is on a wet food diet. Harley is heartworm negative and her bloodwork came back great so she doesn’t have any underlying health issues ❤

Beastie (I am vision impaired)
Please contact Seer Farms Carney’s Point, NJ or

Thank you for coming by and saying HI! My name is Beastie, but I’m really a big softy. I am visually impaired, I can see different levels of light, but no detail so I’ll walk into things which are new to me. After I get my surroundings memorized, you wouldn’t know I was impaired at all! I love going out for walks, or running around in the backyard, or really just being outside. I snuggle down into blankets and am really good at keeping my room clean (housebroken). My short fur is silky soft, and I love being pet, and I eat up attention! I’d like to be a part of your home (especially if it’s a single level with few steps if any).

Ray (I am Blind)
Please contact Rescue Rep Dave at 415-686-4248 or Estates, IL Lab Rescue

Ray has settled into our home and is doing very well. He is such a sweet dog. He has recently been house-broken and has been accident free for weeks now. Ray gets along great with people and other dogs (when properly introduced). Would probably do great with another calm/adult dog in the home – he does great with our own Lab. Ray loves his walks around the neighborhood; we walk him very nicely on a Gentle Leader. Our frequent walks have slimmed him down nicely as was initially pretty chunky. He is doing amazing with the few steps in our home and is now even managing the full flight of stairs between our main floor and our downstairs living area.
Besides being blind, Ray appears to be in superb health. Current on vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped. Recently neutered. We recently took Ray to a doggie eye specialist who determined Ray is suffering from progressive retinal atrophy and is completely blind in both eyes; this condition is inoperable; he was probably sighted when he was young but progressively lost his vision due to some hereditary issue. His lack of vision does not diminish his spirit and zest for life.

Vera Courtesy Post
Breed: Manchester Terrier
Please contact SecondHand Mutts Cleveland, OH

Vera is a senior dog who is 100% blind and hard of hearing. She came to us via rescue transfer from Cleveland Animal Care & Control. Vera moved immediately into a foster home where she is learning to navigate her new environment and is enjoying spending time with her work-from-home human and resident dogs. Vera visited Gateway Animal Clinic shortly after entering our program and is up to date on all vaccinations. Foster’s Report:
Vera is a curious, loving, gentle girl who was someone’s pet prior to being picked up as a stray. While she is 100 percent blind, she gets around quite well and is quickly learning the layout of my house and fenced yard area. I’d characterize her as a cuddle bug, a true lap dog, that loves to be with her human. She is particularly fond of women, and is drawn to female voices, but she does warm up to males once given the chance to sniff them out. Generally speaking, she does not like loud/unusual voices or loud noises since they tend to frighten her. She lets out forceful/loud barks and small growls when she is spooked or faced with the unknown, so a quiet home with no children would be best.

Vera would happily spend all day lying on your lap or next to you on the couch but she is just as comfortable sleeping next to your chair while you work. She has mastered jumping up and down from the couch and can even do stairs (walking up them) when I walk them beside her. I do have the bottom and top of the stairs in my home baby gated (at all times) preventing her from venturing on them by herself when she is home alone. At times, I choose to carry her down the stairs. It’s important to note that while she is a small dog, she is solidly built, muscular and strong. At just over 20 pounds, her adopter will need to be able to lift and carry her at times.

While she does just fine when home alone, and shows no signs of separation anxiety or destructive behavior, I do not leave her for long periods of time since I am working from home these days. I do believe, because of her vision impairment, she would do better in a home where she is left alone for a minimal amount of time each day. So, matching her with someone who can spend the majority of their time with her is optimal. Vera is house trained and has never had an accident in the house. She shows no signs of aggression, food or otherwise, and gets along with other dogs. In addition to placing her in a home with someone who can spend their days with her, I also think Vera may benefit from having another dog in the home. I’ve noticed she will follow other dogs’ scents and the sound of their collars which also helps her navigate inside and outside the house.

Ocean (I am deaf and vision impaired)
Please contact Family Dog Rescue San Francisco, CA

Come and meet Ocean! He has been waiting patiently for almost a year to meet his forever family. Ocean is about 4 years old. He is a Double Merle Catahoula Hound mix (maybe with Australian shepard). Because he is a double Merle, Ocean is deaf and mostly vision impaired. But Ocean bravely and boldly navigates his world and is waiting for a new beginning with a happy heart. Ocean loves human attention; in fact, he craves it because this sweet boy was kept in a crate for most of his life. Are you looking for a dog you can take to the office? Ocean would do great in an office without other dogs. He does like to play with other dogs and he has made many dog friends. He also likes to ride in the car and was great for his first bath! If you are looking for a hiking buddy, Ocean is the one! He can hike for miles without getting tired. Overall, he will make an amazing best friend to a person who would love to train, exercise with, and give confidence to this sweet guy!

Loki (I am blind )
Please contact Family Dog Rescue San Francisco, CA

Meet Loki!! Introverted, sweet home body, looking for someone to pull him out of his shell and be the true proud Husky he’s meant to be. The outside world can be a bit scary right now, especially if you can’t see but with the right person he will soar. Loki came to us from the streets of Fresno with his other 4 Husky siblings where he and the other 4 were dumped blind, without a way to get food or see the world. People can be so cruel. Please show this guy not everyone wants to do him harm. Loki would love a home with a person who will give him the love he’s never experienced before. Take him to Husky meetup to meet other dogs like him and watch him blossom. If there’s ever a dog that needs love, it’s this one.

Odin (I am blind )
Please contact Family Dog Rescue San Francisco, CA

Meet Odin! Odin came to us from Fresno along with his other four husky siblings. Abandoned likely due to their lack of vision, Odin is recently discovering what it means to be a happy pup. This pup loves to make his laps around our shelter yard, he’s a professional sniffer and makes his way around with caution. He enjoys being handled. He’s rediscovering the world around him he would prefer to sniff his way to his forever owners hearts. Being blind does not stop this guy from living to the fullest!

Simon (I am vision impaired)
Please contact Baytown Humane Society Baytown, TX

May 6th, 2020 Simon is a homeless, blind-in-one-eye dog who was found hiding in the flowerbed of a home near Houston. All efforts to locate an owner failed.

Simon truly is the sweetest dog we have come across in a very long time. He is young, healthy, and soo wants to please. He weighs 48 pounds, does great with other dogs and people. He’s not been tested with cats. Even the vets and their staffs have remarked repeatedly about his sweet, innocent temperament and how compliant he is.

We (Baytown Humane Society) have now had Simon fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. He tested Negative for heartworms, too! We have also taken him to a veterinarian ophthalmologist who diagnosed Simon with a congenital condition causing him to be totally blind in his right eye, and with limited sight in the left. He was prescribed medication of one drop, twice a day in each eye.

We hope to find a family where there is almost always someone home. He doesn’t like being left alone. He has his meals in the crate, and he’s happy to lie in the crate peacefully, as long as he knows someone is nearby; but, he absolutely hates the crate when left alone, and will do all in his power to escape it. Perhaps this behavior is a side-effect of being abandoned.

We have been astonished at how well he navigates with his limited vision. He actually runs and plays with the other dogs in the home as if he has full sight! We suppose he knows no difference since he was born with this limited sight.

Simon is truly an amazing dog who loves to play, freely gives kisses, and wants to live a happy life with a great family. He adores attention and is very affectionate in return.

Please help us with this precious animal. I am Marilyn Kinney with Baytown Humane Society; and I can be reached at: 832.414.3729 or by email:

Extremely Sweet, Very Compliant, Gentle, Happy, Innocent, affectionate, cute nubby tail, Loves everyone, Does NOT like to be crated

Mickey (I am vision and hearing impaired)
Please contact Dee at Charlottesville, VA

Mickey is still looking for his forever home as of May 6th, 2020!

Mickey is a small retriever mix, blonde and white colors, medium length coat, about 40 lbs and about 8 yrs old. He’s quiet, smart, sweet, and he appreciates petting and attention. He has some vision and hearing issues, so he does much better in a quiet familiar setting. He doesn’t like a lot of activity and confusion, this frightens him. He’s dog friendly after proper introductions, good with adults, but probably shouldn’t be around small children, as they can be unpredictable. He enjoys his food and does not like to be bothered while eating. He’s a good leash walker and would really enjoy having daily walks with his people. He has some hearing loss, but does respond to voices and noises, and relies on scent and knowing his people to feel comfortable. He’s a special needs boy, but will be a wonderful pet in the right home. Please email Dee at with any questions, and/or to meet this sweet boy.

Bear (I am blind)
Please contact Sacramento, CA

Bear (ID#A518323) is quirky fella, who is learning to get around now that he is blind. He has just completed a 6 week training course that focuses on Canine Good Citizenship. When adopted, his new owner can take him to get the actual test and Bear will be certified. Bear would prefer an adult only household. He gets along with other dogs, and can be apprehensive of strangers. He does better when you talk to him first so that he knows you are there.

Bear loves his food, loves his grooming, and loves his foster person. It would be nice to find someone who wants to invest in the time and/or financing necessary to keep his Maltese log hair beautiful. Mostly he’s looking for someone who will accept his behavioral quirks and keep him clean, medicated and loved.

Click here and here to watch videos of Bear.

Bear is currently in foster care. If you are interested in meeting Bear, please contact the K9 foster and rescue team at Please remember to leave a phone number and the animal ID number.

Biscuit (I am vision impaired)
Please contact Texoma Dog Rescue Denison, TX

Sweet Biscuit is still looking for his forever home as of April 28, 2020!

Biscuit is a 2 yr old yellow lab mix. He is transitioning from a sighted dog to blindness. He can still see some shadows and reacts to certain colors (orange). He is more comfortable in the presence of people. Biscuit like to play with people and with toys, but he since he is still in transition he startles easily and needs a home that can help to transition him into a dog with blindness.

Vicki (I am blind)
Adult (6y 10mo)-Female-Medium
Please contact Plainfield Area Human Society Plainfield, NJ

Vicki is a gorgeous brindled terrier mix who’s spent more than half her 6+ years at PAHS, after being surrendered as “unwanted.” She can be nervous and nippy if surprised, but once she knows someone kind is there, she’s quick to sidle up for snuggles and kisses — she loves to love. She enjoys going on walks and runs in her very Vicki way, especially in a big open space where she has room to roam. She’d do best in a quiet home without other animals and with a person experienced with blind dogs. She’ll need extra patience and help with house-training and leash-walking, but we think the time will be well worth it! We’re already seeing improvement as she’s been working with one of our amazing volunteers who specializes in blind dogs (she has 2 herself!). She’s a real sweetheart who desperately needs to get out of the shelter and into a less-restrictive environment she can call her home.

Lucas (I am Blind)
Adult- Male – Small
Please contact DFW Tzus & More Rescue, Dallas-Fort Worth, TX

My name is Lucas Hoge, I am a Shih Tzu mix, probably with poodle, who weighs about 10 pounds and I am a special-needs dog. I am blind and need a special home. I am pretty much like a normal dog but I need a lot of normalcy in my life. I need a home that’s going to be a little more slow paced, meaning no swimming pools, no children under the age of 15, and since I’m blind I do get under foot some times and can trip you up. Now that we’ve got that taken care of let me tell you about me. I am very lovable and active. I’m pretty good on a leash and about 90% potty trained. I’ll go in a crate but I will make a ruckus for a while. I need to be in a home where someone is home most of the time. My foster parents are amazed at how I adapt without sight. With just a few considerations I’m just like any other dog. Please come see me in person if you are that special home.
For complete instructions on our adoption process and to complete an adoption application please go to our website: Note: The children of adopters must be age 6 or older. We require single family homes to have a fully fenced yard. WE ADOPT IN THE IMMEDIATE DFW METROPLEX ONLY.

Bonded Pair
Sadie (I am blind) Adult – Male – Small
Jada (I am blind) Adult – Female – Small
Please contact CSRNE – Greenfield, NH

Seven year old Jada and her best buddy, eight year old Sadie, are a truly bonded pair – and they’re both blind. Although Sadie, a neutered male, is blind he always knows where Jada is – and she relies on him. When they go for leash walks with their mom, Sadie is the leader and he walks ahead of his mom and Jada follows behind her – it’s quite the parade.

Our vet diagnosed Jada with juvenile cataracts and we hope they’re operable and she can regain some sight. Sadie has cataracts and glaucoma, he’s now on two eye medications to help reduce the pressure in his eyes. The immediate need is to find a loving, caring adult only home for these two special cockers. CSRNE will pay for all ophthalmological care and medications. Our vet said both dogs are otherwise in good health.

Sadie and Jada love going for walks and belly rubs! Do you know a special person who might be willing to give these two dogs the care and attention they so deserve? We know we’re looking for a rare individual who has the time to care for Jada and Sadie but we’re hoping their cocker angel is out there somewhere willing and able to help these two devoted cockers. For more information call 605-547-3363 or email

Jack (I am vision impaired)
Dog • Adult • Male • Medium
Please contact: Florida Keys SPCA Key West, FL

2/26/19 Jack is still looking for his forever home! Jack is a member of AARD, (American Association of Retired Dogs) , a senior dog actively enjoying his retirement years. He’s 9 years young with plenty of energy left to enjoy an active life with a human friend. He has an eye condition which limits his sight. He has been seen by an eye specialist who determined that he can see shadows during the day when the light is bright. This explained how well he walks when out in open spaces with no obstacles during daytime. (Check out the video). In low light and darkness, he behaves more like a blind dog with very limited or no vision. He is currently on nutritional supplements to help his eyes. He may do ok with a well-mannered female dog who does not overwhelm him. He loves his walks, does very nicely on leash, and thinks there is nothing better than a soft bed. He has become a staff and volunteer favorite but is very willing to say good bye to all of us if the right person came along.

Living with a blind dog can take extra sensitivity, empathy, and observation to help them succeed and feel safe in a world they cannot see. But for those who choose to take on a special needs dog like Jack, there are few things more rewarding!

If you would like more info about Jack, please contact Thank you for caring about dogs like Jack and all other animals in need of love and a family. Jack has been at the shelter for two months, and is now really looking forward to something different! He is neutered, 9 years old, and weighs approx. 50lbs. He is HTW negative, vaccinated, and microchipped. Click here to view a video of jack.

Diva (I am blind)
Dog • Adult • Female • Medium
Please contact: One Love Animal Rescue or view her Adopt A Pet page Mount Laurel, NJ

Diva is still in need of a home as of April 29, 2020

Diva is my very special blind foster girl. She entered my life in August of last year and has left a lasting “paw print” on my heart. I was so nervous and scared at the idea bringing a blind dog into my home. I purchased the best-rated raising a blind dog books and did my best to prepare…. but you know what?…my instructor, teacher and friend was able to teach me everything I needed to know and that was Diva herself. She has been blind her entire 7 years of life, her attitude is “I got this and I will show you” and show me she did. Diva showed me she was very adaptable to a predictable environment, Diva showed me just a few carefully chosen words would keep her out of trouble, Diva showed me that all dogs can be off-leash and MOST IMPORTANTLY Diva has taught me to slow down and listen, there is so much to be experienced through the pleasure of sound.
Diva has her own FB page…/
Many wonderful folks follow and comment on Diva’s page and her life as my foster dog. They say “you should just keep her” “she looks so happy”. I love Diva. Her perfect forever home is out there. She NEEDS TO BE THE ONLY DOG. I run an animal rescue, there are so many dogs (besides my 4 personal dogs) in and out of my home. She is not comfortable with all the dogs around and just WANTS to be with her “person”. I KNOW her PERSON is out there. Her person will snuggle and love her all day long. Her person will embrace the %100 devotion Diva is ready to give. Her person will be open to learning and loving life even more through the gifts Diva has to offer.
When Diva’s PERSON arrives, I will cry tears of joy and sadness. I will cry because I will be so overcome with joy that she will get the life she so rightly deserves and sad because selfishly I will miss my dog friend, my early morning cranberry bogs buddy and my end of the day snuggle partner.

Dale (Deaf)

Catahoula • Young • Male • Large
Please contact: Canine Castaways • Arcadia, Florida

NAME: Dale
BREED: Catahoula
SEX: male
COLOR: White with red
AGE: 2 years in May 2016
WEIGHT: 65 lbs

Dale is still looking for his forever home as of 4/27/20

Dale is very athletic and needs a family to match. He loves to run, run, run! He also loves to play outdoors and to play with other dogs around his size. Once he has had his work out, Dale wants to be a lap dog when you’re sitting on the couch. Dale is still a little nervous when meeting new people, but warms up quickly. He loves the water, has learned how to swim and knows several hand signal commands

He has no peripheral vision at all, but can see approximately 15 to 20 feet. If you approach him from the side, he does not see you. Of course he supposedly can’t hear anything but I have my doubts on that. They are certain tones, especially loud, low tones, that he will respond to.
