Video of Andy in the yard

Andy is a sweet, spry, extremely cuddly little man of about 12 pounds who is completely blind from cataracts and who likes to act like he can’t hear but his hearing seems to be just fine at times. He lives with several other dogs ranging from a 75# lab/pointer to 2, 8# mini poodles and he does fine with other respectful dogs. He is not afraid to let other dogs know when they have invaded his space too far. He does not like bigger dogs that sniff him from over the top his head and will growl at them to back off.

The instant this little guy is picked up, he starts nuzzling into his foster mom’s chest. He slept for 30 minutes waiting for his blood work to finish processing at his first vet visit and didn’t react to other dogs or meows from cats in the waiting room.

He will have a dental on December 20th and will be ready for his adoptive home a week or so after he recovers from that, depending upon how many teeth he may need to have removed. He came to BDRA neutered so, hopefully, this was done years ago so he can enjoy the health benefits that pets get when they are neutered early in life.

He is crate trained but will whine the first few minutes he is in a crate. He slept quiet as a mouse the first 2 nights in his foster home in a crate after the first few minutes. He isn’t the happiest in a crate so he is not required to stay in one when his foster mom is not home or at night. He is not perfectly potty training, but because he will tolerate a crate, it would be very easy to get him completely potty trained in a new environment. There are many potty pads in his foster home so it’s not fair to say he’s not completely trained when he has so many tests to walk by each day.

So far, he has only been around his foster mom, dogs and cats but he was fantastic when being handled at the vet’s office and he even let them pull a very loose, bad tooth with no aggression. Everyone at the vet’s office just loves him.
