Latest Updates

  1. Antares is doing great! She has come a long way. She’s been getting along with everyone and is no longer on prescription meds for anxiety, supplements only.

Now it seems too that she would be fine with a cat if properly introduced. We recently went to visit friends in the country. She happily played outdoors with the 2 larger dogs and later visited quietly indoors, paying no heed to a small yapping dog or 2 cats. Even sat quietly by our host’s chair while we ate dinner…Wonderful visit and I could not have been more proud of her!

  2. Previous foster had difficulty with housebreaking; however, after a couple of initial accidents, Antares learned her new routine (4 walks daily, sames times) & has had no problems.

Very anxious first few days but gradually settling in.Still quite fearful though. Does not like anything new (could long scars on nose be from previous abuse?)

Dislikes: hates to be crated, very protective of food and her space. Not socially active with other dogs but tolerates most…
VERY sensitive when harness removed (hair raised, show of teeth, growling, stiff stance)
As she does not pull at all, using harness here for vehicle only. Working on desensitizing her to harness.

Likes: Canned food or meat (does not like kibble but will eat if lots of meat)
Loves going on walks, taking time to sniff etc., not a puller at all. Once she trusts someone, loves belly rubs.Enjoys singing (wooing) with her foster brother Nico.

Antares has come a long way since her arrival here, however she is on medical hold until she is no longer dependent on meds to cope with anxiety and she overcomes her aversion to harnesses.

  3. Antares is a beautiful and very sweet girl! She loves giving kisses and wooing to you… She will guard food in crate but she is otherwise good with other dogs.

She doesn’t like being grabbed by collar or restrained so should not be with young children.

She’d love to have someone who’s home a lot and she enjoys outdoor activities!
