Update 8/19/22

Atom is officially Blasto Negative!! He has finally cleared his infection and is doing amazing! He is such an incredible dog, with the most gentle and sweetest soul. Atom has adapted so well to being blind, you almost forget he can’t see.

He loves to go on walks, play tug, and is the biggest cuddle bug you will ever meet. He is so patient and tolerant of everything that comes his way. All he wants in life is to be with his person and is equally happy going on a fun adventure as he is spending all day snuggled up on the couch.

Atom is the dog you have been looking for, and you could not ask for a better friend than Atom!

Update 6/10/22

Atom is so amazing! He continues to do well with his treatment and when last checked his levels were “below quantification” meaning he is hopefully almost clear of his infection!

He is such a lazy boy who loves to sleep in the craziest positions! He loves to play with his chew toys and is one of the sweetest most mellow boys in the world. We recently got a 12 week old foster kitten and Atom plays so gently with and allows him to climb and wrestle all over him!

Atom has the BIGGEST heart and is hoping you will want to snuggle this velvet hippo as much as he wants to snuggle you!

Meet Atom! He is a 4 year-old Pit Mix with the biggest heart you will ever see. He is the sweetest soul, and is looking for that special someone who will love to snuggle all day!

He has gone through quite a few changes in the last couple of months. He was diagnosed with Blastomycosis at the end of January, which spread to his eyes. Unfortunately the inflammation caused him to develop retinal detachments and glaucoma, making him irreversibly blind. He underwent surgery to remove his eyes at the same time as his neuter, and has been healing well ever since.

He has adapted well to being blind. Atom is a big couch potato at heart, and loves to snuggle up on a lazy day. He also loves to go on walks, play with chew toys, and just spend time with the family.

He still has a few more months of treatment to clear all the blasto from his system, but is making great progress everyday!
