Dusty Rose
Labrador Retriever/Catahoula Leopard Dog
Adopted!
Dusty Rose was born on January 28, 2019. She came to BDRA through a very kind foster home in Louisiana. She is a Lab/Catahoula mix who was born blind. Dusty Rose is called Rosie in her foster home. She is very bright, at 14 weeks she taught herself to go up and down stairs.
She has a bit of a sensitive stomach and we had to work on finding just the right food for her, but now she is doing well. She is housebroken and leash trained. She loves every person that she meets but can be a little nervous around large barking dogs – once she meets them she gets along well with them. Rosie is just about the happiest dog you can meet!
Rosie recently completed puppy training. She will sit on command – especially when she knows that a treat is coming her way! She will wait briefly – she still has lots of puppy energy! Her other commands still need a little work be she will get there!
Rosie is currently living with 8 small dogs and the two smallest (both under 8 pounds) love to play with her. She responds well to the command “gentle” when she starts playing a little too rough. She is still in the process of learning that she is a big dog with lots of strength.
Rosie is good with children but needs to be reminded not to jump on them. She becomes quite excited when she finds a new playmate!
Rosie’s eyes were removed recently and are still healing up (quite nicely). Rosie does not let her lack of vision slow her down at all. She happily runs around the yard with all her puppy energy.
Rosie loves to snuggle. She sleeps in the bed (must be lifted up in case adopting family does not want her on their bed) with her foster siblings and her foster mom. She loves nothing more than to snuggle up and put her head on her foster mom. She will give foster mom kisses on demand.
One very special and wonderful thing about Rosie is that she will go to the bathroom on command. There is no waiting forever for her to find just the right spot!
