Walter

Dachshund

Adopted!

Walter is a 5-year-old, blind and deaf, very sweet double dapple dachshund from Oklahoma. He loves to cuddle and falls in love with everyone he meets. He’s very affectionate. Walter likes to follow his humans everywhere by following his nose, and he tries to be “helpful,” making whatever the humans are doing his business. He can be “talkative” sometimes, when he wants something. He makes us laugh daily without even meaning to! Walter is starting to show a bit of a playful side and more confidence as he settles in.

Walter sleeps in bed with the humans. He licks a lot and likes to groom the people and pets in the house. He will bark, mumble, and howl for food if he senses the humans are eating. I don’t think he’s been told “no” very often in his life!

Walter needs an understanding home. Because he is both blind and deaf, he takes a bit longer than other dogs to adjust to new situations and feel comfortable and confident. He also has some separation anxiety, so he worries and whines when he is left alone. That may lessen as he settles in more. We are still working on housebreaking.

Walter was adopted on March 13, 2020.
