Willie (Wilson)

Willie has had his left eye removed on June 19th due to chronic glaucoma, and he’s doing great!  He had to wear the cone for a few weeks to protect his eye, and he was a real trooper.  He’s as sweet and cuddly as ever, and hasn’t let his surgery slow him down.  He’s also lost a few more pounds, and is down to 37 pounds as of this writing!  Willie is patiently waiting for his very own forever family.  He can’t wait to share all of his love!

Wilson (Willie) is an adorable and sweet fellow. He was turned over to a Virginia shelter because his owner could no longer care for him. The shelter reached out to Blind Dog Rescue Alliance, and here he is!

Willie LOVES to be cuddled and wants so badly to be a lap dog, but his weight makes that a bit difficult! He is full of tail wags and kisses, and will roll over at any time for a belly rub. Willie is happiest cuddling with his person while you watch TV or read a book. He just loves to be close! He adores his walks, and is well-behaved on the leash. He does very well with the other dogs here, but does attempt to chase cats.

Willie is in an expen while I am at work (for no longer than four hours at a time), and while he’s not happy about it, he goes in willingly. If I’m not quick enough to let him out when I get home, he will let me know!

At the time he was turned into the shelter, Willie weighed 44 pounds. He is on a diet under the direction of his vet, and he currently weighs about 40 pounds. But because of his weight, he has some pain in his shoulders, and receives Meloxicam daily. He is not allowed to jump on furniture or to go up or down stairs. He gets in and out of the car using a ramp, and he is the ramp champ!

Willie has glaucoma in his left eye, and very low pressure in his right eye. Both pupils are dilated. He is currently on two different eye drops, twice a day, and is an angel for his eye drops (but he doesn’t like his nails cut!). He is completely blind. He sees the ophthalmologist on May 29th.

Due to his size and shoulder pain, a home without small children is recommended for Willie. He is also looking for a home with no cats, and within a day’s transport of Central New York. Willie is very excited about having his very own forever home. He has so much love to share!
