Meet Bear – Your New Best (Blind-but-Brilliant) Buddy!
Looking for a dog who’s equal parts silly, smart, and sweet? Meet Bear, a 3-year-old labradoodle mix who may be visually impaired, but don’t tell him that — he’s too busy tossing around his toys, navigating stairs like a champ, and charming everyone he meets!
Bear is currently thriving in a foster home where he enjoys:
Enrichment games (snuffle mats = heaven)
Walks around the neighborhood (with plenty of sniff breaks!)
Carrying his favorite stuffed animal around like a prize
Gentle companionship with other respectful dogs
He loves a good belly rub when the mood strikes, and he’s doing great with routines, structure, and a little help from his meds.
Medical & Behavior Notes:
Bear was diagnosed with central blindness in 2022 — his eyes are fine, but his brain doesn’t process visual information well. That said, he gets around great with a predictable routine and a little help from his humans.
He also shows some mild neurological behaviors (like circling or fly-biting), especially when overstimulated, but these are well-managed with:
Gabapentin & Trazodone currently.
Prozac will be starting soon, as recommended by a neurologist, to help further reduce anxiety and overstimulation.
He’s house trained, sleeps through the night, and his blood work looks great!
Bear is looking for a calm, patient home (foster or adoptive!) where he can keep thriving. A quiet space, a cozy bed, and a family that sees how special he is — that’s all he needs.
