BIO Update (1/23/2026): Here's a very sweet little baby who has no idea she's special needs. She wants people who will cuddle and have another small dog to hang around and learn from. She doesn't really know how to play with other dogs at this point, but she sure loves her toys. Just like any puppy, she is new to everything. Being blind, she needs to be trained and shown the world through your eyes and her incredible, smelling nose and floppy ears. Training with noise, such as a clicker, and using voice commands, a harness, treat rewards and positive encouragement are known to have excellent outcomes to build confidence and bonding. She'll also need to work on potting training still because she's so young.
BIO: Britta came from right here in Middle TN. She was given up by the breeder because of her blindness and their inability to care for her. At first, we were not sure if she was completely blind but after taking her to VOS it was determined that she is indeed blind. One eye is smaller than the other. She also has a “club foot” but that does not stop her from getting around.
Britta loves to be cuddled and covered up and sleeping next to you. She is puppy pad trained but will need you to work with her on house breaking. She barks when she knows it is time to eat and she hears the rest of the fosters in the foster home start to bark for dinner or breakfast.
She has never been around a cat, so she does not even know what they are. She has never been around another young small dog so has not learned to play but does play with toys, or you, so please be willing to play with her.
What Britta needs is someone that can spend the time and have patience with her to show her the world. She is the sweetest little girl, but it is time she finds her own home. She will be your heart.
While we do not feel she needs a fenced in yard, it is necessary that she has you out there with her at all times. While she will not run, she will wander and that would get her in trouble so a harness and leash would be BEST.
Yes, she is cute but think about this if you don’t have the time then she would not be a good fit for your home.
Our must haves for Britta are:
